Good Old Collingwood Forever

Those who are familiar with Australian Rules Football will know that every year there is usually unbridled expectation of the Collingwood Football Club. "It's our year!" is something I used to say with my mates when we were younger. Year in, year out. We eventually got it right in 1990. That year we won the flag with a group of players that to all intents and purposes came through the old Under 19s.

These days there are no Under19s, no reserves unless you count the Williamstown affiliation. What most clubs are reliant on is the draft, recruiting talented youngsters and hoping like heck they pay some dividend in the years to come.

Over the years the Pies have got it wrong but of recent times things are looking up. How could you not get excited by the young tyros like Dale Thomas, Scott Pendlebury, Tyson Goldsack mixed in with the Shaws, Travis Cloke and some of the older guys in Scotty Burns, Rocca, Paul Licuria and co?

It may not be our year this year but the club has built a squad of which should form the nucleus of a very good team over the next few years. This is something every Pies fan should be genuinely excited about. We are supporting a squad that has passion and pride in the guernsey and play for one another. Other than a flag what more could you ask for?

Go Pies.

Where the bloody hell are you?

Having signed up for what seems like my millionth social networking site I have just discovered that it's been over a year since I last added a post. Wonder if that matters cos who is reading this anyway?

I will endeavour to add some interesting stuff in the near future. Much has happened since my last entry and it is just a matter of sifting through what might be of value here.

Just got back from 3 weeks in Perth and Melbourne but more on that later.
