Is it over?

Are we seeing the demise of one of the greatest sporting dominations come to an end? I do not want to write the Aussie cricketers off just yet but the situation in the current Ashes series suggests the English have their measure. Does the English dominance mean an end to Australia's overall dominance? I don't think so.

The Aussies have not been playing well of late but it does not mean they are all of a sudden a team lacking talent or ability. One can apply the old adage that 'form is temporary but class is permanent' here. I would like to see a few more victories against the Aussies before I write them off.

One could argue that the Kiwis should have cleaned up the Australians or in the least the cracks were starting to appear during that tour. The Kiwis did not have the strike power to defeat them. How different it might have been if they did. Notably, Gilchrist was able to rescue them. It looks like the English have a decent bowling line up but they have not managed to put the final nails in; just look at the 2nd and 3rd tests. Even though the English won the 2nd test it took them a while to do that.

I just hope the media et al don't proclaim greatness in the current English team. That tag will take a while to earn ... perhaps in 15 years' time we can look back and say they were a great time. Much like what we are doing now with the Aussies. Write them off at your peril.

Uninspired

Am I lacking inspiration or am I just being lazy? Lots of sport on at the moment. Loving it and am especially looking forward to the finals series in the league and aussie rules. NPC starts soon. Ashes still going. Black Caps are in Zimbabwe. Tri Nations too. No time for blogs ...
